How do you get an epson r280 to find brand new ink cartridges?

i just got the epson r280 and i tried installing the ink cartridges for the first time but it seems that it cant find the yellow ink cartridge, i have gone through every step numerous times but cant seem to get it to work. anyone have any ideas? new printer

1. Since this is a discontinued printer did you get a new one or a used one? And are you using genuine epson cartridges or compatible? try visiting http://ccs-digital.com/cartridgeproblem.asp for possible solutions
2. Have you tried turing the printing off and unplugging it for about 1 minute? This can often help. Also, I've seen some sites suggest that you should remove the cartridges, and then turn off and unplug.
