Mobile Printers

Whenever i connect new hardware to my computer it always occurs an error, even though i have the disc?

I try and connect new hardware to my computer via a usb cable such as a mobile phone or a printer and it always occurs an error even though i have the instalation disc inserted in the computer. My printer use to work fine then all of a sudden the computer no longer recogniesd it and never did again. Now no new hardware seems to work ? Im running on Windows XP Ive tried what u you said Marcus and they all seem to be fine, no yellow exlamation marks

1. have you tried installing before you connect the devise what are you running on xp vista etc ?
2. This could be a problem with the USB port driver. To check (XP but other versions similar), go to Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager. Scroll down the list until you find "Universal Serial Bus controller" (USB to you and me!). Open up the list by clicking on the + sign. If any of the USB ports listed have a yellow icon & exclamation mark, double click on it and choose to reinstall drivers.
